Battle of the Books (BoB) is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd-5th grades. Students read books and come together for monthly meetings between September and March to discuss the books they have read.

The program culminates with a friendly competition in March. Students are put on a team and work together to answer questions about the books. All students compete with other Madison students and the winning 4th/5th grade team will continue on to compete with RBUSD’s seven other elementary schools. Madison’s team won the district battle in 2022!

See below for this year's book lists. The Madison Library carries the BoB books. If you wish to check one out, please e-mail Mrs. Jimenez at sjimenez@rbusd.org and she can help your child check out the book on their library day. In addition, both the Redondo Beach and the LA County Libraries have the books available. Electronic resources including Libby, Cloud Library, and Hoopla also have many of the books. Finally, Dave's Olde Bookstore on Artesia Blvd. at Rindge has many of the BoB titles in stock.

Students are welcome to read or listen to BoB books.
