Battle of the Books (BoB)
Battle of the Books (BoB) is an exciting reading program for 3rd–5th grade students who love reading, teamwork, and a little friendly competition!
From September through March, students dive into amazing books, meet monthly to share ideas and discuss what they’ve read, and practice fun games and challenges that prepare them for the ultimate battle.
The excitement builds all year long and culminates in March with the Battle of the Books Competition! Students will work in teams and put their reading knowledge to the test by answering questions about the books they’ve read.
Teams compete against fellow Madison readers for bragging rights and a 4th/5th grade team goes on to represent Madison in a district-wide championship against the other seven elementary schools in RBUSD!
Whether you’re a passionate reader or just looking for a fun new challenge, BoB is a great way to discover new books, make friends, and be part of an unforgettable team experience!
The Madison Library carries the BoB books. If you wish to check one out, please email Mrs. Jimenez at sjimenez@rbusd.org and she can help your child check out the book on their library day. In addition, both the Redondo Beach and the LA County Libraries have the books available. Electronic resources including Libby, Cloud Library, and Hoopla also have many of the books. Students are welcome to read or listen to BoB books.
